Civil Inspector for Water Distribution Projects

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Civil Inspector to support Resident and Assistant Resident Engineers in supervising water distribution network construction for a major utility client in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The role involves daily site inspections, ensuring works comply with drawings, specifications, standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise water network installation works including excavation, pipe laying, chambers, valves, fire hydrants and backfilling.
• Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, and industry standards.
• Attend and witness field and laboratory tests such as pressure testing, flushing and water quality sampling.
• Inspect delivered materials for damage and contractual compliance.
• Maintain daily field logs, inspection records, photographic documentation and raise non‑conformance reports as needed.
• Support HSE compliance, participate in site walkthroughs, and promote safety reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum Engineering Degree (BE or BSc) in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, certified by the Ministry of Higher Education.
• At least 2 years of site inspection experience, preferably in consultancy for water network projects.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Available full‑time and willing to work a six‑day week on site.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and inspection/test plans.
• Knowledge of water network systems and associated civil works.
• Experience with trenching, excavation, shoring and backfilling processes.
• Understanding of HSE requirements for confined spaces, excavation, lifting and work at height.
• Familiarity with QA/QC procedures and relevant OSHAD Codes of Practice.
