Cluster Director of Engineering

About the role

The Cluster Director of Engineering will lead the engineering, maintenance and asset management functions for two Accor hotels in Dubai. Reporting to the Cluster General Manager, you will ensure operational excellence, safety and guest comfort across all building systems.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the integrity and performance of critical infrastructure including foundations, structure, MEP systems, chillers, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water, lifts and life‑safety systems.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes to maximise asset reliability and lifecycle.
• Lead major engineering projects, renovations and technical upgrades from concept through execution and handover.
• Prepare and manage CAPEX plans, budgets and business cases in partnership with the Cluster GM and owning company.
• Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, fire and life‑safety standards, brand standards and engineering legislation.
• Drive energy, water and utility optimisation, supporting ESG, carbon‑reduction and sustainability objectives.
• Monitor OPEX, utility costs and contractor performance, identifying opportunities for cost optimisation.
• Manage strategic supplier, contractor and technical service relationships, ensuring quality and value for money.
• Lead, develop and engage the engineering teams across both hotels, fostering a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Building Services Engineering, Facilities Management or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years of engineering experience, preferably in upscale hospitality or large‑scale properties.
• 3–5 years in a senior engineering or technical leadership role managing multiple properties.
• Proven experience with hotel building infrastructure, MEP systems, chillers/HVAC, electrical, plumbing and life‑safety systems.
• Strong knowledge of UAE/local authority regulations, statutory compliance and HSE requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage CAPEX, major renovations and asset lifecycle projects.
