Commis 1 – Kitchen Support Role in Dubai

About the role

The Commis 1 supports daily kitchen operations in Dubai, ensuring smooth service delivery and adherence to food hygiene and safety standards. Working under the Chef de Partie or Sous‑Chef, the role focuses on food preparation, equipment maintenance, and maintaining high presentation quality.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chef de Partie/Sous‑Chef with culinary operations and maintain clear internal communications.
• Prepare dishes according to recipes, ensuring flavor, temperature, and presentation meet standards.
• Monitor kitchen equipment, report defects, and ensure regular maintenance.
• Follow food hygiene, licensing, and safety regulations at all times.
• Control waste, spoilage, and cost items while using equipment safely.
• Attend required meetings and share feedback for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of culinary experience, including at least 18 months as a Commis 2.
• Culinary diploma or short culinary course.
• Ability to read and communicate in English.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods and work in noisy, dusty, or fume‑filled environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with kitchen knives and cooking equipment.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
