Commis 2 - Pastry

About the role

SLS Dubai Hotel and Residences, a luxury 5-star city hotel belonging to Ennismore under the Accor group, is hiring a Commis 2 Pastry in Dubai. The role supports the pastry kitchen team with food preparation, mise en place and kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chef de Partie and kitchen team with daily food preparation and cooking.
• Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, sauces, garnishes and other mise en place as instructed.
• Ensure food is prepared according to recipes, standards and portion sizes, with high quality, presentation and consistency.
• Receive, store and organize food supplies following proper storage and FIFO procedures.
• Keep the workstation, equipment and preparation areas clean and organized.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards, including proper handling, labeling, dating and storage of food.
• Support buffet, restaurant, banquet and other kitchen operations, and help during busy service periods.
• Monitor ingredient stock levels and inform the Chef de Partie of shortages.
• Minimize food wastage and operate kitchen equipment safely, reporting faults to the supervisor.
• Help with cleaning and closing duties at the end of each shift, and follow health, safety, fire and hygiene regulations.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef or Executive Chef.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least two years of cooking or kitchen experience in an accredited restaurant or hotel.
• One to two years in a public-facing position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
• Friendly, approachable demeanor.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Team player able to work independently and build positive working relationships across departments.
