Commis Chef 1 – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis Chef 1 supports daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth service and meeting guest expectations. Working under the Chef de Partie or Sous‑Chef, the role involves food preparation, hygiene compliance, and equipment monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chef de Partie/Sous‑Chef in culinary operations and produce dishes as instructed.
• Maintain food hygiene, safety standards and report any equipment defects.
• Prepare, season, and present meals according to recipes and quality standards.
• Store, date, and sanitize food and equipment, controlling breakage and spoilage.
• Communicate effectively with senior kitchen staff and attend required meetings.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of kitchen experience, including at least 18 months as a Commis 2.
• High school diploma or equivalent professional training.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods in a noisy, dusty environment.

Required skills

• Ability to read and communicate in English.
