Commis (Kitchen Assistant) – Luxury Hotel

About the role

The Commis will support the kitchen team at SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences, preparing ingredients, cooking, and ensuring food safety in a fast‑paced, upscale environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, chop, and store ingredients; weigh, measure and mix according to recipes.
• Cook and plate soups, desserts, sides and entrees, ensuring proper portioning and presentation.
• Maintain clean food storage areas and monitor appliance temperatures using thermostats and thermometers.
• Follow HACCP guidelines, personal hygiene procedures and local food‑safety regulations.
• Report maintenance or temperature issues promptly to management.
• Monitor food quantities to control waste and stay on duty until the next shift takes over.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Minimum two years of kitchen experience in a hotel or accredited restaurant.
• Experience in a public‑contact role within an upscale or lifestyle‑brand hotel.
• Friendly, gracious demeanor with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask in a demanding, fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HACCP food‑safety standards.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment and monitor temperatures accurately.
