Cultural Specialist – Canadian Arctic Focus

About the role

Lindblad Expeditions is seeking a Cultural Specialist with deep expertise in the Canadian Arctic to join its expedition staff. The specialist will serve as the primary authority on the region’s culture and natural history, delivering engaging interpretations and leading guest activities throughout the voyage.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver 30‑40 minute PowerPoint presentations on Canadian Arctic culture and natural history.
• Lead and assist a variety of on‑shore and on‑water activities, including hiking, kayaking, inflatable boat tours, stand‑up paddleboarding, snorkeling, cross‑country skiing, snowshoeing, and cultural/culinary tours.
• Provide in‑field and onboard interpretation for guests, adapting content for both large groups and intimate settings.
• Participate in evening recaps to highlight daily experiences and reinforce learning.
• Assist with the care and maintenance of field‑staff equipment and shared spaces.

Required profile

• Extensive field experience in the Canadian Arctic, preferably as a resident or long‑term practitioner.
• Demonstrated subject‑matter expertise in both natural history and cultural heritage of the Canadian Arctic.
• Strong communication skills, able to convey stories to diverse audiences.
• Excellent social skills for dining and interacting closely with guests and multinational crew members.

Required skills

• Proficiency in creating and delivering PowerPoint (or similar) presentations.
• Knowledge of Canadian Arctic ecosystems, wildlife, and cultural traditions.
• Ability to safely lead outdoor adventure activities (e.g., hiking, kayaking, skiing).
