Dean of Research

About the role

The Dean of Research is a senior leadership position at Sharjah Education Academy, responsible for shaping and guiding the institution’s research strategy. This permanent, full‑time role reports to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) and works closely with other senior leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Academy’s research strategy, fostering a strong research culture.
• Ensure research quality by monitoring and evaluating outputs across the institution.
• Lead capability‑building initiatives, including doctoral supervision programmes aligned with international best practice.
• Secure local and international research funding, manage budgets, and oversee grant submissions.
• Oversee higher‑degree‑by‑research programmes, coordinate admissions and support staff and student development.
• Facilitate cross‑institutional collaborations and build partnerships with industry, government and external stakeholders.
• Align research initiatives with institutional planning and report on outcomes.
• Represent the Academy on research committees and at national and international forums.

Required profile

• PhD in a field relevant to the Academy’s work with a strong research track record, preferably in quantitative or mixed‑method education research.
• Proven strategic thinking and ability to develop and implement institutional plans.
• Demonstrated leadership experience leading academic teams.
• High‑level communication, negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Experience in budget management and resource allocation.

Required skills

• Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English (highly regarded).
• Relevant experience in the UAE/GCC region.
