Economist, Maghreb (Surveillance & Financing)

About the role

The Economist will provide high‑level economic analysis and policy advice to support economic surveillance, loan eligibility assessments and reform program monitoring for member countries in the Maghreb region.

Key responsibilities

• Assess economic and financial eligibility of financing requests, including risk and debt‑sustainability analysis.
• Prepare policy notes, monitoring reports and country surveillance reports that highlight challenges and recommend reforms.
• Participate in consultations with member‑country officials and draft letters of intent, reports and policy briefs.
• Conduct macro‑economic and risk analysis at country and regional levels, and contribute to flagship economic reports.
• Provide technical assistance, training and capacity‑building to member countries and support internal/external policy forums.

Required profile

• 5‑6 years of experience in economic or financial policy, preferably with an international financial institution, central bank or ministry of finance.
• Master’s degree in Economics, Macroeconomics, Public Finance or a related field.
• Strong background in macro‑economic analysis, economic modelling and policy advisory.
