Heavy Equipment Telematics Analyst

About the role

The Data and Equipment Telematics Analyst manages, captures and analyses all telematics and equipment data within the fleet. The role ensures accurate reporting, early identification of equipment issues and close coordination with technicians, suppliers and internal teams, while monitoring equipment performance and optimising service schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Capture, validate and enter telematics and equipment data from various systems and sources, and evaluate daily data for trends, anomalies or irregularities.
• Maintain accurate digital records and generate routine and ad-hoc reports for management and operations teams.
• Monitor equipment hours, utilisation and performance; flag fault codes, alarms and error notifications to technicians or supervisors.
• Track equipment due for servicing and coordinate with the servicing supervisor.
• Plan new telematics installations, coordinate scheduling with the Service and Workshop teams and ensure compliance with company standards and supplier requirements.
• Liaise with telematics suppliers on technical issues, downtime and online service interruptions, and follow up on unresolved errors or inaccurate readings.
• Work with vendors to improve the performance and reliability of telematics systems.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports on equipment status, health, performance and utilisation, and help build dashboards and data summaries.
• Recommend improvements to data capture, reporting formats and telematics workflows, and support initiatives that improve accuracy and uptime.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, Data Analysis or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
• Previous experience in telematics, equipment monitoring or data analysis is an advantage; experience in construction or equipment rental is beneficial.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work under time-sensitive conditions.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with good attention to detail in data entry.
• Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets and digital reporting tools.
• Familiarity with telematics platforms such as JLG ClearSky, Genie LiftConnect and Trackunit is an advantage.
• Technical understanding of equipment servicing is an added benefit.
