Homeroom Teacher - Maternity Cover (Immediate Start)

About the role

Aldar Education is recruiting a homeroom teacher to cover maternity leave at Abdulla Bin Otaiba Charter School in Abu Dhabi, with an immediate start. The school follows the US curriculum and has over 1500 students from KG2 to Grade 5. It aims to be a collaborative, student-centred school and to develop its staff, and the successful candidate will align with its core values of respect, collaboration, passion, integrity and excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed and achieve the best possible outcomes
• Plan engaging lessons with colleagues and liaise with parents to support children's happiness and academic progress
• Organise classroom provision and learning resources, create displays and present sessions for the whole ability range
• Motivate pupils, observe and assess them according to school assessments, and adjust planning and curriculum based on progress
• Meet with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists when needed
• Record student development in Target Tracker, use assessment data to inform planning and intervention, and give parents feedback at parent-teacher conferences
• Manage classes following the school's behaviour policy, maintain good relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model
• Work in a curriculum action group, support school events and activities, communicate with parents through systems such as CPOMS, and run a weekly ECA each term

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in the related subject with PGCE or another teacher qualification
• At least 1-2 years of teaching experience
• Previous experience working with students whose first language is not English
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check
