HSE Inspector – TBM Tunnelling

About the role

AECOM is recruiting a full-time HSE Inspector for TBM tunnelling projects in Abu Dhabi. The inspector works under direct supervision, performing basic and routine duties across environmental, health and safety disciplines to ensure compliance with ES&H standards and federal and state regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining safety and health programmes, systems and procedures.
• Monitor hazards and diseases that may be present in the work area.
• Investigate accidents, injuries and complaints about workplace hazards together with colleagues.
• Recommend improvements to processes, design, procedures and equipment to reduce hazards.
• Take part in employee training and emergency preparedness, and help assure the quality of safety programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of HSE experience on major infrastructure construction projects.
• Mandatory experience in tunneling works (TBM, NATM, cut & cover or similar methods).
• Essential: previous experience in high-speed rail, railway, metro or rail infrastructure projects.
• Advantageous: previous experience in viaduct or elevated structure construction.
• Diploma or bachelor's degree in engineering, occupational health and safety, environmental science or a related discipline.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, risk assessment and permit-to-work systems.
• Proficiency in incident investigation and hazard identification.
• Preferred certifications: NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely / Working Safely, OSHA safety certification, first aid and fire warden.
