Information Security Specialist

About the role

A recruiter is hiring an Information Security Specialist to manage and support information security governance, risk assessments, security controls and compliance initiatives for a government client based in Dubai. The role sits within the Information Technology Department and is on a 12-month renewable contract. Candidates must be able to work in the United Arab Emirates.

Key responsibilities

• Protect IT infrastructure, networks, applications and systems against threats and vulnerabilities in line with recognised security standards.
• Support implementation and ongoing compliance with Dubai Government's Information Security Regulation (ISR) and ISMS frameworks.
• Investigate security incidents, system misuse, unauthorised access attempts and policy violations.
• Conduct threat and risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
• Monitor and evaluate security hardware and software, including the impact of vendor changes, upgrades and new technologies.
• Contribute to improving security policies, controls, processes and technologies, and research new security technologies.
• Coordinate with external suppliers and service providers on technical support, security solutions and contracts.
• Work with internal IT and business teams to keep IT services available, reliable and scalable in line with SLAs.

Required profile

• Proven experience in information security, cybersecurity, IT risk management or information security governance.
• Practical experience with information security frameworks, preferably Dubai Government's ISR and ISMS.
• Experience assessing the security of IT infrastructure, networks, applications, systems and communications.
• Experience coordinating with internal IT teams, external vendors and service providers.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor are an advantage; immediate availability preferred.
