Material Engineer - Roads and Bridges Projects

About the role

AECOM is looking for an experienced Material Engineer for major roads, infrastructure and bridge projects in Dubai. The role covers inspection and supervision of road and infrastructure works so that they are carried out in line with the project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve the contractor's proposed materials and methods as delegated by the Resident Engineer
• Prepare the Material Engineer's daily diary
• Oversee the contractor's daily activities, including works assignments, on-site performance and guidance on supervision
• Attend factory visits and supplier plant inspections as required
• Follow up testing and approvals from the relevant authorities, and review the contractor's testing requests and completed reports
• Monitor material delivery performance and the accuracy of materials used at site
• Coordinate with the contractor's supervisory personnel on schedule, sequence and method of work, and monitor conformance with the schedule
• Carry out continuous field inspections and consult with the Resident Engineer and contractor supervisors
• Prepare written and oral reports to the Resident Engineer on contractual and procedural matters

Required profile

• Relevant BSc degree from a recognised university
• Dubai Central Laboratory approval
• At least 10 years of experience in design, construction and supervision of roads, bridges and infrastructure
• Full knowledge of existing infrastructure networks in the Emirate of Dubai

Required skills

• Quality inspections with hands-on experience of ISO 9000 quality systems
