Mechanics / Mathematics Teacher

About the role

GEMS Education is looking for a Mechanics / Mathematics teacher. The role covers delivering the curriculum, planning and marking work, supporting students with diverse needs, and taking part in school life such as co-curricular activities and parent communication.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the required curriculum with accurate, up-to-date knowledge of the subject, and plan and deliver quality lessons that cater for different learning styles.
• Show written evidence of planning and preparation, and keep records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources and assessment plans.
• Teach students according to their individual needs, including late-entering students, ESL learners, those with low academic ability and gifted and talented students.
• Set and mark work, assess, record and report on student progress and attainment, and use assessment to adapt the curriculum to each student's needs.
• Use media and technology in the classroom, and promote student well-being and guidance on educational matters.
• Communicate with external parties such as Ministry of Education officials, and meet regularly with parents about student progress while keeping their information confidential.
• Take part in appraisal, performance management and continuing professional development, and work with colleagues on teaching materials, resources and pastoral arrangements.
• Lead or take part in co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes, help organise school events, and supervise safe, appropriate student behaviour.
• Model cultural awareness and understanding, and commit extra time when tasks require it.

Required profile

• Solid commitment to teaching and learning and strong subject knowledge in the relevant area.
• Excellent communication skills, able to build relationships with students and colleagues.
• Follows GEMS policies, procedures and codes of conduct, and embraces its core values.
