Money Laundering Reporting Officer (ADGM)

About the role

Coinbase is seeking an experienced compliance leader to serve as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for its Abu Dhabi‑based subsidiary. This founding role will build and own the AML/CTF/PF/Sanctions program in a high‑growth market while shaping regulatory strategy with the ADGM Financial Services Regulatory Authority.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and maintain AML/CTF/PF and sanctions policies for the ADGM entity, ensuring ongoing compliance with evolving regulations.
• Monitor FSRA and UAE regulatory developments and lead implementation of required compliance changes.
• Provide regular updates to senior management and the Board, escalating incidents and driving AML/CTF/PF training for local staff and Board members.
• Lead day‑to‑day regulatory communications with the FSRA, including notifications, comment letters, and risk assessments.
• Remediate findings from internal audits, regulatory exams, and self‑identified issues promptly.
• Partner with product and global compliance teams to embed compliance into new products and market expansions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of AML/CTF/PF compliance experience, including senior leadership roles.
• First‑hand knowledge of UAE and Abu Dhabi financial services and AML regulations, with direct experience liaising with the FSRA or a comparable regulator.
• Proven track record of building a compliance program from the ground up and managing day‑to‑day operations.
• Experience engaging directly with regulators, vendors, and cross‑functional stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions; cryptocurrency or fintech experience preferred.
