Senior Accountant

About the role

Join Coinbase as a Senior Accountant to drive impactful finance work in a remote-first environment focused on increasing economic freedom. You will be part of a high‑performing team handling critical accounting and regulatory functions.

Key responsibilities

• Own monthly and quarterly close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, balance‑sheet analysis, and reporting.
• Support VARA regulatory reporting with data‑quality checks, reconciliations, controls, and audit trails.
• Execute and strengthen SOX controls, maintain documentation, and assist internal and external audits.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams on new product launches to ensure accounting and regulatory readiness.
• Review fund flows, legal‑entity impacts, ledger design, and launch readiness for new products.
• Identify automation opportunities to scale accounting operations.
• Detect and resolve accounting, reporting, regulatory, and operational risks early.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, CA, ACCA preferred.
• 5+ years progressive experience in accounting, controllership, audit, fintech, capital markets, exchange, custody, clearing or digital assets.
• Strong experience with monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, audit support and internal controls.
• Experience with SOX, regulatory reporting and process documentation; VARA exposure strongly preferred.
• Ability to understand end‑to‑end transaction flows across entities, systems and ledgers.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and stakeholder‑management skills across international time zones.
