PMC Junior Electrical Engineer

About the role

Wood is looking for an experienced PMC Junior Electrical Engineer in Abu Dhabi to support its electrical engineering team on a high-profile energy project. The engineer helps review, coordinate, install, test and commission electrical systems so they meet project specifications, quality standards and HSE requirements. The goal is to gain practical experience in project delivery and engineering best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation.
• Support monitoring of electrical construction, installation and commissioning at site.
• Review contractor and vendor electrical submissions for compliance with project requirements.
• Take part in inspections, testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction and commissioning teams and track progress, reporting issues, delays and risks to senior engineers.
• Help troubleshoot electrical engineering and construction issues and ensure compliance with codes, standards and HSE requirements.
• Support technical reports, progress updates and documentation, attend project meetings and maintain inspection and test records.
• Support procurement technical reviews, project handover, punch list clearance and close-out.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Typically 0-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in EPC, PMC, oil & gas, petrochemical, power or infrastructure projects.
• Willingness to work at project sites and support construction and commissioning.
• Strong written and verbal English; ability to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
• Membership in a recognized engineering institution is an advantage.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of power distribution, transformers, switchgear, motors, lighting and grounding.
• Familiarity with electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NFPA and local codes and standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; ETAP knowledge is an advantage.
