Project Director – Large‑Scale Infrastructure

About the role

The Project Director will lead the delivery of large‑scale infrastructure programmes in Al Ain, overseeing all phases from mobilisation through handover. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures projects meet contractual, quality, safety and sustainability targets while aligning with client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic leadership and governance for multi‑disciplinary project teams.
• Manage client, government authority and stakeholder relationships, leading executive‑level meetings and securing approvals.
• Oversee contract administration under FIDIC, reviewing variations, claims and commercial risks.
• Direct engineering design coordination, construction supervision, testing, commissioning and asset handover across roads, utilities, drainage, electrical, telecom and public realm works.
• Establish and monitor quality, HSE and risk management frameworks, implementing mitigation strategies.
• Lead and mentor resident engineers and commercial staff, optimizing resources and performance.
• Prepare executive progress reports, dashboards and KPI updates for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of experience delivering major infrastructure projects, with at least 10 years in senior leadership roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s degree and professional certifications (CEng, PE, PMP) are preferred.
• Extensive experience working with UAE government authorities, developers and utility providers.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary consultancy teams and complex stakeholder environments.
• Strong commercial awareness and decision‑making capability.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of FIDIC contracts and project controls.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, BIM and other digital construction platforms.
• Experience using project management systems and executive reporting tools.
• Expertise in QA/QC systems, HSE management and risk registers.
• Understanding of authority approval processes, stakeholder management and asset transfer requirements.
