Project Engineer I - Protection

About the role

The Project Engineer I – Protection will support customers in the design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and protection systems. This position requires a solid understanding of power system protection concepts, SEL products and the ability to deliver high‑quality work within defined schedules and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Possess and apply fundamental concepts of power system protection, protective relays and SEL products.
• Train and assist customers in design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and protection systems.
• Complete assigned work within scope, schedule and budget while ensuring high quality and safety.
• Participate in preparing functional design specifications and maintain detailed design documents, reports, checklists and test reports.
• Follow SEL Values, Principles of Operations and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

Required profile

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience with electric power systems, system protection and protective relays.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (minimum 25%).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team.
• Pass satisfactory background check and drug test.
