Registered Nurse - NICU

About the role

Royal Khalifa City Hospital Abu Dhabi is hiring a Registered Nurse for its NICU. The nurse provides safe, compassionate care to newborns and their families, works with physicians and allied health professionals, and upholds the NMC Nursing Strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and monitor newborns, create and evaluate care plans, and record vital signs and abnormal findings
• Perform neonatal resuscitation (NRP), stabilize newborns, and receive them safely from labour or theatre
• Provide specialized care for mechanically ventilated neonates, including ventilator monitoring, suctioning and respiratory assessment
• Assist with invasive procedures such as intubation and central line insertion, and administer IV fluids, blood products and total parenteral nutrition
• Manage phototherapy, wound care, and pre- and post-operative care for surgical neonates
• Monitor and maintain NICU equipment (incubators, ventilators, warmers, pumps, monitors, bilirubin meters, phototherapy units) and ensure infection control standards
• Educate parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, immunization and emergency response, and support families emotionally
• Assist the charge nurse with unit inventory and stock levels

Required profile

• Valid license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority, with all required qualifications and experience
• Own professional re-licensure and a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support card
• Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written English; Arabic is desirable
• Willingness to work across departments when necessary
• Desirable: proven teamwork in an inter-professional setting, organizational skills with the electronic medical record system, and effective Arabic communication
