Remote Rust Engineer – AI Data Training Contractor

About the role

We are looking for a remote Rust Engineer to join SME Careers, a fast‑growing AI data services company. You will work on hourly‑paid contract tasks that involve reviewing, generating, and evaluating AI‑produced Rust code and explanations, helping to improve the quality of large‑language‑model outputs.

Key responsibilities

• Review AI‑generated Rust code, identify ownership, borrowing, lifetime, and algorithmic errors.
• Write clear, pedagogical explanations and model solutions that showcase idiomatic Rust patterns.
• Rate and compare multiple AI responses based on correctness, safety, and reasoning quality.
• Develop prompts and responses to guide AI training on Rust programming topics.
• Test AI models for inaccuracies or bias and provide feedback to improve model reliability.

Required profile

• 1–2+ years of professional Rust development experience in backend, CLI, or systems projects.
• Strong grasp of Rust’s ownership, borrowing, and lifetime concepts.
• Experience using LLMs or AI coding assistants with a disciplined validation approach.
• Excellent written English (C1 level) and ability to produce structured technical explanations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
