Resident Medical Officer – General Surgery

About the role

The Resident Medical Officer will support consultants and specialists in the General Surgery department, ensuring timely documentation and coordination of patient care in accordance with Fakeeh Care policies.

Key responsibilities

• Interview and evaluate patients, taking comprehensive medical, medication, socioeconomic, psychological and functional histories, and perform physical examinations.
• Document findings, clinical information, and justification for diagnostic tests (CT, MRI, US) in the EMR, using accurate ICD codes.
• Conduct daily rounds on assigned wards, write progress notes, and communicate patient status and management plans to attending physicians.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, respond promptly to patient complaints, and coordinate care with nurses, dietitians, social workers, laboratory, radiology and insurance teams.
• Complete handovers at shift end, fill required forms, and prepare discharge summaries with clear instructions and medication lists.
• Attend departmental meetings, contribute to quality and patient‑safety initiatives, and engage in hospital projects.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with an MD in General Surgery preferred.
• 3–5 years recent experience in a busy hospital surgical setting.
• Strong knowledge of EMR systems, clinical documentation standards, and insurance requirements.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple patients, and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
