Restaurant Host

About the role

The restaurant Host is the first person to interact with arriving guests, greeting them, welcoming them into the establishment and seating them. The host sets the first impression of the restaurant, whether guests arrive at the door or call ahead. The position reports to the Dining Room Manager and General Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Behave in line with the high standards expected of the restaurant, whether guests arrive in person or by phone.
• Maintain a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers and guests at all times.
• Know at least three appetizers, three entrees and three desserts and be able to explain them to guests or callers.
• Report to work on time and be ready for scheduled shifts.
• Keep the restaurant service area clean and orderly.
• Fill in for multiple positions as needed.
• Provide a prompt, accurate report of all income received during each shift.

Required profile

• High school or equivalent education.
• Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Responsible, dependable, punctual and adaptable; calm under pressure.
• Clean and professional appearance.
• Must pass a background check.

Required skills

• English spoken, read and understood.
• Basic math skills.
• Experience with Open Table preferred.
