Risk Manager (Aviation)

About the role

AtkinsRéalis, a design, engineering and project management organisation, is seeking a Risk Manager for its project team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role suits someone with aviation experience who wants to develop and manage risk and opportunity processes across a programme of projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and monitor a risk issue and opportunity management process, and maintain a risk matrix showing dependencies and the impact of missing scheduled dates.
• Identify, monitor and manage dependencies and resolve related issues, and identify opportunities to coordinate discussions and agreements that deliver benefits.
• Monitor projects and ensure a robust risk management process is actively managed, implementing the Risk Management Plan, Risk Log and associated governance.
• Track significant risks so they are identified, recorded, evaluated, managed and re-evaluated, and communicated across the programme.
• Identify and manage inter-program and external risks, as well as internal programme risks, and review the Risk Log against programme status reports and meetings.
• Provide accurate, timely management information on project status, drive delivery and accelerate projects where appropriate.
• Manage risks and opportunities at programme level, ensure coherence between projects, understand and manage interdependencies, and set and adhere to legal and commercial standards.
• Ensure value for money through supplier negotiations, transfer knowledge and skills to the client, and implement best-practice management and administrative processes.

Required profile

• 10 to 15 years of experience in risk management.
• At least 3 years as a Risk Manager in the construction/engineering industry.
• Experience in aviation.
• Degree in engineering, business or equivalent, or postgraduate qualification; a risk management qualification is preferred.
• Understanding of complex projects and strong leadership, communication and management skills.
