Safety Officer – PMC Projects (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

Penspen is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to support its PMC projects in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures day‑to‑day site safety compliance and assists in implementing HSE policies in line with client standards, ADNOC requirements, and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor site activities for compliance with HSE procedures and ADNOC standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Assist in risk assessments and ensure control measures are applied.
• Enforce the Permit to Work (PTW) system for all high‑risk activities.
• Supervise safe execution of work at height, lifting, confined space entry, and hot work.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions, and awareness sessions.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safety requirements.
• Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; support investigations.
• Maintain HSE records, reports, and documentation.
• Coordinate safety matters with supervisors, workers, and subcontractors.
• Support emergency response activities and drills.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant Oil & Gas experience, including at least 5 years in the GCC region.
• At least 5 years in a similar safety role on international major Oil & Gas or petrochemical projects.
• Middle East/ADNOC project experience is highly desirable.
• NEBOSH IGC/Diploma, IOSH, or equivalent certifications.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety standards and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple contractors in a dynamic site environment.
