Senior Accountant - Brand P&L & Closing

About the role

The Senior Accountant maintains the accuracy and integrity of the brand-wise general ledger and holds overall responsibility for the brand-wise Profit & Loss (P&L), including its preparation, review and analysis. The role also supports annual budgeting and periodic forecasting, monitors actual performance against budget and prior year, and highlights key variances and improvement areas to management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly brand-wise P&L reports with variance analysis against budget and prior year, covering revenue, COGS %, payroll % and EBITDA.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing for assigned brands, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments and provisions, and prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations (bank, credit card, aggregator, inventory, fixed assets, intercompany, payables and receivables).
• Review food and beverage cost reports and stock counts with operations and purchasing teams, investigating COGS, wastage and inventory variances.
• Assist in preparing the annual brand-wise budget and periodic forecasts, and monitor actual spend against approved budgets, flagging overruns early.
• Prepare management reports, KPI dashboards and ad-hoc analysis for the Finance Director and owners, including outlet profitability, payback and cost-saving reviews.
• Implement and monitor internal financial controls, ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies, and coordinate with external and internal auditors.
• Prepare and review UAE VAT returns and support corporate tax compliance, and ensure transactions follow the approved Delegation of Authority.
• Supervise, train and mentor junior accountants and accounts assistants, and maintain accounting procedures and ERP documentation.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant qualification (mandatory).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2-3 years in a senior accountant or equivalent role, preferably in the F&B or hospitality sector within a multi-outlet or multi-brand restaurant group in the UAE or wider GCC.
• Proven track record of month-end and year-end closing and of preparing brand or outlet-level P&L statements with variance analysis.
• Experience with UAE VAT returns, corporate tax compliance, and coordinating with auditors.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modelling)
• Oracle Micros POS and ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite, SAP, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics)
• Power BI or similar reporting tools is an advantage
