Senior Civil Structural Designer - SP3D

About the role

Wood is looking for an experienced Senior Civil Structural Designer (SP3D) to create offshore civil structural design layouts and 3D models using SmartPlant 3D (SP3D) for a high-profile client. The role supports the Central Engineering Division in delivering safe, accurate, constructible and clash-free engineering solutions for offshore platforms, topsides, jackets, modules, pipe racks and associated structural facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed civil and structural 3D models in SP3D, including primary and secondary steelwork, beams, columns, bracing, decks, platforms, stairs, ladders, handrails, gratings and equipment supports.
• Prepare structural GA, framing, section, elevation and detail drawings, fabrication and erection drawings, platform layouts and miscellaneous steelwork drawings, plus MTOs, BOMs and design reports.
• Coordinate with civil, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and HVAC disciplines, take part in model reviews and resolve clashes and interface issues.
• Apply offshore design and detailing practices for fabrication, transportation, lifting, installation and maintenance, and support constructability reviews and brownfield modification and tie-in activities.
• Follow ADNOC standards, project specifications, AISC, BS/EN, API and ISO requirements, and perform model and drawing checks before submission.
• Guide junior designers and modelling personnel, coordinate with lead engineers and project teams, and monitor deliverables against schedule.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience in structural design and drafting within the oil and gas industry.
• Proven experience on ADNOC offshore projects or similar Middle East offshore developments is highly preferred.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on expertise in SmartPlant 3D (SP3D) is mandatory.
• Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Navisworks and other 3D review platforms.
• Extensive experience in offshore structural systems such as jackets, topsides, pipe racks and platforms.
