Senior Commissioning Engineer - Telecom (Offshore)

About the role

Penspen is hiring a Senior Commissioning Engineer (Telecom) for an offshore project in Abu Dhabi, covering Wellhead Towers (WHTs), subsea and piping, and brownfield facilities. The engineer leads and executes telecom commissioning for offshore oil and gas projects, acting as the focal point between engineering, construction, vendors, commissioning teams, operations and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute telecom commissioning for offshore oil and gas projects, including WHTs, subsea cable and pipeline developments and brownfield modification projects.
• Ensure telecom systems are installed, tested, integrated, commissioned and handed over safely and efficiently, in line with project specifications, international standards, operational requirements and schedules.
• Develop commissioning strategies, procedures and execution plans; prepare Commissioning Execution Plans (CEP), systemization and commissioning dossiers.
• Define system boundaries and handover sequences, review engineering deliverables, vendor documentation and telecom philosophies.
• Lead commissioning and testing of offshore telephone, IP telephony, intercom and PABX systems, data and network systems, radio communication systems, safety and security systems and subsea fiber optic systems.
• Verify communication interfaces between offshore facilities and onshore control centers, and plan and execute cutover and migration activities with minimal disruption during brownfield modifications.
• Prepare turnover packages, support Ready for Start-Up (RFSU) and final handover, and coordinate with vendors and operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical & Communication Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years significant in offshore projects.
• Proven telecom commissioning experience, including offshore platforms, WHTs, jackets and topsides, and brownfield facilities.
• Preferred PMC/EPC background and previous ADNOC Offshore experience.
