Senior Engineer - Operation Readiness and Assurance (Process)

About the role

Penspen is hiring a Senior Engineer for Operation Readiness and Assurance (Process) in Abu Dhabi. The role bridges project delivery and operations, ensuring operability, maintainability, integrity and readiness of process systems before start-up and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement Operations Readiness and Assurance (OR&A) plans and strategies, and ensure alignment between project deliverables and operational requirements.
• Define and monitor readiness milestones and assurance gates, and take part in stage-gate reviews (FEED, Detailed Design, Construction, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, Start-Up).
• Ensure designs meet operability, maintainability and safety requirements, identify process risks and recommend mitigations, and support process optimisation before start-up.
• Take part in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LOPA studies, constructability and operability workshops, and 3D model reviews, incorporating lessons learned and operational feedback.
• Verify accessibility, isolation philosophy and maintainability of process equipment.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of as-built documentation, process datasheets, control narratives and vendor documentation, and verify operating procedures, training materials, spare parts and criticality lists.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (Master's preferred).
• 15+ years of experience in Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemicals, LNG or similar.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on PMC projects.
• Familiarity with OR&A frameworks.

• Proficiency in process simulation tools such as HYSYS and Aspen Plus is beneficial
