Senior Manager - Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)

About the role

Julphar is looking for an experienced Senior Manager - Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) to lead the EHS agenda across its Ras Al Khaimah manufacturing campus, a large and complex pharmaceutical site with multiple production buildings, warehouses, laboratories, engineering facilities and utilities. The role provides strategic and operational leadership so that activities are safe, responsible and compliant with UAE and Ras Al Khaimah regulations, Julphar standards and international EHS management-system principles, and acts as a key partner to Site Leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the site EHS strategy, objectives, annual plans and improvement roadmap, aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
• Act as principal EHS advisor to Site Leadership and promote a prevention-focused culture across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Laboratories
• Ensure robust identification, assessment and control of occupational, environmental and process-safety risks, using methods such as task risk assessments, HAZID and HAZOP
• Own critical safety programs: Permit to Work, Lockout/Tagout, electrical and machine safety, hot work, working at height, confined space, lifting, excavation and contractor safety
• Govern hazardous materials, chemical handling and storage, dust and explosion risks, pressure systems, Management of Change and pre-start-up safety reviews
• Lead occupational health and industrial hygiene, including exposure monitoring and health surveillance
• Manage waste, hazardous waste, wastewater, air emissions, spills, environmental permits and drive energy, water and waste reduction
• Ensure emergency preparedness, fire and life safety, regular drills and coordination with Engineering, Security, Occupational Health and Business Continuity
• Lead incident reporting, investigation, root-cause analysis, CAPA and lessons learned
• Maintain regulatory compliance, lead site inspections and internal audits, and embed EHS-by-design in engineering and capital projects
• Set EHS KPIs, dashboards and management reviews, and develop the site EHS team
• Keep EHS controls compatible with pharmaceutical GMP requirements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry or a related discipline; Master's degree an advantage
• Professional EHS qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma/International Diploma, CMIOSH, CSP or equivalent strongly preferred
• Minimum 10 years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical or another complex regulated manufacturing environment
• At least 5 years in an EHS leadership or senior-management capacity for a complex site or multi-building operation
• Experience in incident investigations, risk-reduction programs, audits and regulatory interaction
• Strong stakeholder management and excellent English communication; Arabic is an advantage

Required skills

• NEBOSH, CMIOSH, CSP or similar EHS qualification
• ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor or equivalent management-system qualification is an advantage
• Knowledge of UAE EHS regulatory requirements
