Senior Mechanical Engineer - MEP Site Supervision

About the role

IRTH Group is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to supervise MEP works on a major hospitality construction project in Dubai. The engineer ensures full compliance of all mechanical systems with Dubai Municipality (DM), Dubai Civil Defence (DCD), project specifications and applicable international standards. The role suits candidates with strong hospitality development experience, especially on central domestic hot water (DHW) systems.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all mechanical works on site in line with approved DM drawings, DCD fire and life safety requirements, project specifications, shop drawings and authority conditions.
• Oversee DHW generation, storage, circulation and redundancy, and HVAC chilled water and ventilation systems, plumbing, drainage and water supply, pumps, calorifiers, heat exchangers and expansion vessels.
• Verify hot water requirements such as temperature control, circulation loops, standby capacity and Legionella prevention measures.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, ITPs and commissioning procedures.
• Attend DM and DCD inspections, coordinate fire-related mechanical systems (smoke management, stair pressurization, smoke exhaust, kitchen exhaust) and witness testing, commissioning, flushing, pressure testing and balancing.
• Issue NCRs, track corrective actions and coordinate with Electrical, ELV, Architectural, Interior Design and Structural teams.
• Monitor contractor performance, progress and quality, and prepare technical supervision reports and compliance documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of MEP supervision experience in construction projects in the UAE.
• At least 2 completed hospitality projects (hotel, serviced apartment or resort) with central DHW systems.
• Experience with a consultancy managing multiple MEP subcontractors, and a strong background in site supervision and Dubai hospitality, mixed-use or high-rise projects.
• Thorough knowledge of UAE authority regulations and inspection protocols; consultant or PMC experience highly preferred.
