Senior Resident Engineer - Infrastructure Bridges

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Senior Resident Engineer for infrastructure and bridges to lead and oversee site supervision on major bridge and infrastructure construction projects in Abu Dhabi. The role manages the supervision team, monitors progress and quality, coordinates with the Contractor and stakeholders, and ensures works comply with approved drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage site supervision for bridge and infrastructure works, including foundations, piling, abutments, piers, retaining walls, decks, bearings, expansion joints, barriers and associated structures.
• Oversee infrastructure works such as roads, earthworks, stormwater drainage, sewerage, potable water, irrigation, electrical and telecom networks.
• Manage the site supervision team, including Assistant Resident Engineers, Inspectors, Surveyors and other technical staff.
• Review Contractor submissions such as shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, inspection plans and construction programmes.
• Monitor progress, quality and compliance, and review IRs, RFIs, NCRs and other technical documentation.
• Coordinate with the Contractor, Client, utility authorities, designers and other stakeholders, and monitor the Contractor's programme, manpower, equipment and resources.
• Ensure proper inspection, testing and commissioning, and monitor interfaces between bridges, roads, utilities and drainage.
• Participate in progress meetings, support the Project Manager on variations, claims and extension of time submissions, and ensure compliance with quality, health and safety and environmental requirements.
• Maintain site records and progress reports, and oversee handover and closeout including as-built drawings, testing records and O&M manuals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in site supervision and delivery of major infrastructure and bridge projects.
• Proven experience managing site supervision teams and coordinating with Contractors and stakeholders.
• Experience in progress monitoring, technical reviews, inspections, testing and commissioning.
• Good understanding of construction contracts, technical specifications, quality procedures and project controls.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and coordination skills.
• UAE experience on major infrastructure and bridge projects is preferred.
