Specialist – Adult ICU

About the role

The Adult ICU Specialist provides comprehensive medical care to critically ill patients in an intensive care unit, ensuring evidence‑based treatment and adherence to hospital policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac emergencies and multi‑system organ failure.
• Perform and supervise invasive procedures such as intubations, central line placements and arterial catheterizations while maintaining sterile technique.
• Monitor vital signs, laboratory results and clinical status, adjusting treatment plans as needed and coordinating with nurses, respiratory therapists and other specialists.
• Communicate patient progress to families, obtain informed consent, and ensure accurate medical records and discharge summaries.

Required profile

• MD in Critical Care with a valid DHA license.
• Minimum 4–6 years post‑specialization experience, including 3–4 years in a busy private hospital in the UAE.
• Strong decision‑making, crisis management and interpersonal communication skills.
