Structural Engineer (Site)

About the role

AECOM is recruiting a full-time Site Structural Engineer in Abu Dhabi. The role covers a broad range of technical and administrative activities centred on contract compliance, quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) inspection of structural scope, with supervision of the inspection team and support to the Project Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse applicable codes, standards and contract documents, and monitor construction to ensure compliance
• Interpret or clarify contract documents for contractors
• Maintain records such as daily/weekly progress reports, material accounts, change orders and record drawings
• Supervise, direct and coordinate the inspection team, hold weekly meetings with inspectors and the Project Engineer, and audit inspections against contract documents and contractor plans
• Assist the Senior Discipline Engineer in identifying and evaluating technical issues to keep the schedule, and issue NCRs for non-compliance
• Attend progress and coordination meetings, support the Resident Engineer/Team Lead, liaise with the Design Engineer on modifications and give daily site reports
• Take part in snagging and project handover coordination, and contribute to project reports
• Monitor health and safety on site and stop work if unsafe practices are followed

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or equivalent; a postgraduate degree and membership of a recognised institution, or a Master's in Civil/Structural Engineering, is preferred
• Experience in high-rise residential and commercial buildings, covering start-up, execution and handover of major projects
• Ability to supervise a team of inspectors efficiently and competently
• Good team player with high energy levels

Required skills

• Knowledge of structural design requirements, estimation, installation and site activities for large-scale building projects
• Familiarity with structural engineering methodologies, equipment, materials, tools and manpower allocation
• Ability to interpret and execute structural drawings
• Knowledge of the requirements of the relevant authorities
