Transport Planner

About the role

WSP is hiring a Transport Planner in Sharjah to join its Transport Planning & Mobility department. The planner supports multimodal transport strategies, traffic modelling and infrastructure design for public and private sector projects, working with multidisciplinary teams, engaging stakeholders and applying best-practice methods to improve mobility and reduce environmental impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate transport models and forecasts for road, public transit and active travel networks.
• Prepare traffic impact assessments and mitigation strategies for development projects.
• Support sustainable transport plans, corridor studies and mobility strategies.
• Carry out field data collection, traffic counts and travel surveys as required.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and consultants to integrate transport solutions into project designs.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and visualisations for clients and authorities.
• Assist with tender documents, cost estimates and feasibility studies.
• Stay up to date on local regulations, standards and emerging mobility technologies.
• Take part in stakeholder workshops and public consultations, mentor junior staff and share knowledge.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Transport Engineering, Planning, Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transport planning, traffic modelling or mobility analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal English; Arabic is a plus.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage several tasks at once.
• Knowledge of UAE transport regulations, standards and sustainability guidelines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with transport modelling software such as VISSIM, AIMSUN, VISUM and SYNCHRO.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Experience preparing technical reports, presentations and client deliverables.
