Warehouse Operative

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding, the air, ocean and road freight specialist of DHL Group, is hiring a Warehouse Operative in Dubai. The role supports warehouse, manual handling and ground operations, including movement, storage and inventory control, under supervision. It is an individual contributor position with no direct responsibility for leading others.

Key responsibilities

• Receive goods, scan and verify them against the shipment record, then sort, label and store them to optimise warehouse space
• Check items against the shipment record, inspect for damage or defects and update received and shipped items
• Route materials correctly between departments and pack items for shipment according to specifications and the chosen transport method
• Maintain and log the movement of incoming and outgoing materials, and perform order fulfilment based on customer requirements
• Answer queries about inventory levels and delivery schedules, and help resolve delivery issues
• Consolidate transshipment and sorting activities, and support the operation of gas or electric forklift trucks and hi-risers
• Process documentation during pick-up or arrival, and use scanners to process incoming and outgoing shipments
• Arrange daily pick-up schedules and dispatch delivery information, and check and maintain forklifts and equipment daily
• Support shipment processing documentation, send status information and accept or secure over-the-counter payments
• Answer basic customer service questions on shipment tracking and misplaced shipments
• Keep up with equipment use and obtain certifications for loading, unloading and material handling equipment

Required profile

• Vocational, specialized, technical or certified education level
• Less than 2 years of experience
• Ability to explain facts, practices and policies to colleagues and handle task-related issues appropriately
