Boarding Officer

About the role

The Boarding Officer will join Wilhelmsen Port Services in Abu Dhabi, supporting seamless vessel calls by handling documentation, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and process all ship documents required throughout each port call.
• Communicate and coordinate with vessel owners, shippers, charterers, consignees, and port authorities.
• Prepare and submit arrival and departure reports within required timeframes.
• Arrange berthing, pilotage and marine prospects in liaison with vessel masters.
• Perform vessel visits according to Standard Operations guidelines and verify husbandry and cargo requirements.
• Forward pre‑arrival documents (PDA) to principals and update the WASP system with status changes.
• Coordinate cargo discharge/load operations and ensure Revised DA and RAD drafts are completed within 72 hours of departure.
• Attend to enquiries, board vessels as directed, and report leads or business opportunities.
• Assist with emergency medical cases, VIP transportation, and ensure proper handling of mobile phones hired to vessels.

Required profile

• Proven ability to coordinate with vessel masters, owners, shippers and port authorities.
• Familiarity with port documentation processes and vessel boarding procedures.
• Capability to use the WASP reporting system for tracking arrivals, cargo and operational status.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency or non‑emergency situations.
