Chief Business Officer

About the role

We're hiring a Chief Business Officer to build and lead Mal's commercial function from zero. This founding executive role reports to the CEO, sits on the Executive Committee and owns the commercial path from launch to growth.

Key responsibilities

• Define revenue strategy, unit economics and commercial KPIs; own the P&L from licence to revenue.
• Design and execute the go‑to‑market motion for launch, including positioning, channels, pricing and acquisition strategy.
• Identify, negotiate and close strategic partnerships and distribution agreements such as payments rails, embedded finance, ecosystem and brand alliances across the UAE and target markets.
• Design the commercial organisation, create hiring plans and recruit senior commercial talent, setting performance and culture standards.
• Contribute to enterprise‑level decisions as an ExCo member and represent the commercial perspective to the Board, investors, regulators and the Sharia Supervisory Committee.
• Act as a public representative for Mal with investors, regulators, partners and the wider fintech and Islamic finance ecosystems.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in digital banking, fintech or financial services.
• 3+ years in a C‑level commercial role (CBO, CCO, Chief Growth Officer) or as VP of Commercial/Business/Growth at a scaled digital bank or fintech.
• Proven track record at a category‑defining digital bank or fintech, with demonstrable success in building commercial functions.
