Commis – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis supports the Sous Chef and kitchen team at Fairmont Heritage Place, delivering high‑quality food service in a fast‑paced hotel environment. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience with both à la carte and buffet preparations while ensuring guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of work areas, utensils, and equipment.
• Know all menu items, daily features and promotions.
• Provide professional, friendly, and proactive guest service.
• Assist in preparing and serving food for à la carte and buffet menus according to hotel recipes and standards.
• Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Previous experience in the culinary field (an asset).
• Journeyman’s papers or international equivalent (an asset).
• Diploma or certification in a culinary discipline (an asset).
• Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.
• Highly responsible and reliable.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Team‑oriented with a focus on guest needs.
