Consultant Ophthalmology – Abu Dhabi

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Consultant Ophthalmology to join our Abu Dhabi hospital. The role involves delivering comprehensive eye care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to research and quality improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, take medical histories and order/interpret diagnostic tests.
• Formulate personalized treatment plans for ocular injuries, illnesses and disorders.
• Prescribe and administer medication, therapy and perform necessary ophthalmic surgeries.
• Collaborate with other medical specialists and support services to ensure integrated patient care.
• Document clinical information accurately and in a timely manner, complying with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in quality‑improvement projects, clinical audits and research activities.
• Provide supervision, instruction and mentorship to junior medical staff, residents and students.
• Communicate clinical information compassionately to patients and families and obtain informed consent for procedures.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent degree from a recognized medical school.
• Completed residency or fellowship in ophthalmology.
• Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience post‑specialisation.
• Valid DOH Abu Dhabi licence or eligibility to practice in Abu Dhabi, plus current licence from last practising country.
• Certificate of good standing from the relevant licensing authority.
• Fluency in English and Arabic; additional languages are an asset.
