Inspector I – Quality (Coating/Insulation/Refractory)

About the role

Petrofac is seeking an Inspector I – Quality to oversee coating, insulation and refractory work on its Abu Dhabi site. The role ensures that all surface preparation, application and testing activities meet the required standards, specifications and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that weather conditions comply with applicable standards before coating activities.
• Ensure manufacturer instructions and MSDS are followed for handling and storage of coating materials.
• Maintain material data sheets, traceability and correct material usage.
• Monitor contractor performance, verify applicator competence and certification.
• Confirm inspection and test equipment is serviceable, calibrated and used by knowledgeable personnel.
• Oversee surface preparation, blast profile, cleanliness and protection of components before blasting.
• Record surface profile at key stages and monitor wet and dry film thickness throughout the coating process.
• Conduct visual inspections after each coat and witness destructive and non‑destructive tests after curing.

Required profile

• Ability to assess weather conditions against standards.
• Knowledge of manufacturer instructions, MSDS handling and material traceability.
• Experience monitoring contractor performance and verifying certifications.
• Familiarity with calibration and serviceability of inspection equipment.
• Attention to detail in surface preparation, coating application and testing procedures.
