Lead HSE Engineer – PMC

About the role

Wood is seeking an experienced Lead HSE to drive safety, health and environmental performance for a high‑profile client in the energy sector. You will develop policies, conduct risk assessments and lead company‑wide safety initiatives to protect people and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and mitigate workplace hazards to ensure a safe working environment.
• Ensure compliance with local, national and international HSE regulations.
• Conduct training sessions and toolbox talks to educate employees on safety protocols.
• Analyse accidents and near‑misses, determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
• Develop and implement strategies to minimise environmental impact and promote sustainability.
• Establish and maintain emergency response plans for effective incident handling.
• Monitor and enhance HSE policies and procedures to align with industry best practices.
• Provide HSE advice to site management, staff and contractors and support audit activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading HSE functions on EPCM or large‑scale energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of local UAE HSE legislation and international standards.
• Ability to develop safety and environmental plans, risk assessments and method statements.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections and loss‑event investigations.
