About the role

The Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) invites applications for tenured Associate or Full Professor positions in Statistics and Data Science. The role involves leading research at the intersection of statistical theory and machine learning, and contributing to the university’s graduate programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high‑quality undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics, data science, and related topics.
• Mentor and supervise master’s and PhD students.
• Advance the university’s research agenda through publications, grant acquisition, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Participate in curriculum design and departmental service.
• Engage with industry, government, and research partners to translate statistical innovations into real‑world AI solutions.

Required profile

• PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of research in statistical theory, machine learning, or data‑intensive methods.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain external funding and publish in top venues.
• Commitment to high‑quality teaching and mentorship.

Required skills

• Expertise in statistical modeling and inference.
• Proficiency with computational tools for large‑scale data analysis.
• Experience in machine learning research and its statistical foundations.
