About the role
The Commis Chef supports the senior cook in daily kitchen operations, handling basic food preparation and ensuring hygiene standards are met.
Key responsibilities
- Cooperate with the senior cook to produce food in the assigned section.
- Assist the senior cook in performing duties efficiently.
- Collect required food items from stores and the butchery.
- Prepare mise‑en‑place according to the section head’s directions.
- Follow hygiene and sanitation rules, maintaining a clean kitchen environment.
- Attend training classes and keep records of new recipes and cooking procedures.
- Maintain equipment in good condition and ensure regular repairs and maintenance.
- Control food cost within budget by minimizing waste without compromising standards.
- Maintain operational hygiene according to cleaning rotas and adhere to health, safety, and fire‑life safety policies.
