Senior Technical Engineer – Fire Doors (Steel & Wood) & Hardware

About the role

NAFFCO is looking for a Senior Technical Engineer to lead the technical and commercial side of steel and wood fire doors and their hardware solutions. You will act as the primary technical advisor for contractors, architects and project managers, ensuring every solution meets fire safety regulations and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on specification, installation and compliance of fire doors and associated hardware.
• Prepare accurate quotations, technical submittals and project proposals aligned with current fire safety standards.
• Interpret architectural drawings and building specifications to deliver compliant, practical solutions.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering and procurement teams to optimise product selection, pricing and delivery schedules.
• Deliver technical presentations and documentation to influence decision‑makers in construction and architecture.
• Diagnose and resolve technical queries throughout the project lifecycle, maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of steel and wood fire‑door systems and related hardware (locks, closers, hinges, access‑control).
• Strong understanding of fire‑door standards and regulations such as BS, EN and CE.
• Experience reviewing fire‑test evidence, certifications and compliance documentation.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed design and construction drawings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with sales and engineering teams and to communicate technical information clearly.
