Accountant (Retail Apparel)

About the role

C2i, a subsidiary of Aldar Retail Management, is a holding company developing hospitality, retail and lifestyle destinations. Its Accountant ensures accurate, timely and compliant financial records for the retail apparel business, owning day-to-day accounting across stores with a focus on sales reconciliation, inventory accounting and month-end close. The role works closely with store operations and finance management.

Key responsibilities

• Retail sales and cash: reconcile daily POS sales to cash, card settlements, bank deposits and payment gateways; investigate cash shortages, chargebacks, refunds, exchanges and voids; account for gift cards, store credit, loyalty points and promotions; monitor petty cash and store floats.
• Inventory and cost accounting: maintain inventory valuation and COGS, calculate landed costs for imported apparel, support stock counts and shrinkage/write-off adjustments, track slow-moving stock and inventory provisions, and report gross margin by brand, category, season and store.
• Payables, receivables and consignment: process supplier and brand invoices, prepare supplier statement reconciliations and payments, manage receivables from wholesalers, franchise partners and marketplaces, and account for consignment stock and commissions.
• Month-end close and reporting: prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations, store P&Ls, four-wall profitability and management accounts, and support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Compliance, tax and controls: prepare UAE VAT workings and returns, support corporate tax compliance, ensure IFRS and company policies are followed, support audits, and strengthen controls over cash, inventory, pricing and markdown approvals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CMA or CA) completed or in progress preferred.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in multi-store retail, ideally fashion or apparel.
• Hands-on experience with POS reconciliations, inventory costing and month-end close.
• UAE or GCC experience, including VAT, strongly preferred.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of IFRS.
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, large data sets).
• Power BI or similar is a plus.
