Pavement & Road Engineer – Airfield Infrastructure

About the role

Artelia is seeking an experienced Pavement and Road Engineer to design, evaluate and support delivery of flexible and rigid airfield pavements, heavy‑duty aprons, landside roads and pavement‑management solutions in Dubai. The role combines structural and geometric design, geotechnical interpretation, condition assessment, lifecycle planning and construction support to ensure safe, durable and cost‑effective infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyse flexible, rigid and composite airfield pavements using tools such as FAARFIELD and COMFAA, establishing traffic forecasts and ACR/PCR classifications.
• Plan and interpret geotechnical investigations (CBR, FWD/HWD, PCI) and define material performance requirements for asphalt, concrete and stabilized materials.
• Develop Airfield Pavement Management Systems and create proactive maintenance, overlay and reconstruction strategies.
• Design airport access roads and circulation layouts with Civil 3D, integrating drainage, utilities and lighting.
• Review contractor mix designs, method statements and lead site inspections to ensure elite quality control.
• Leverage AI‑assisted automation and data‑analytics tools to optimise option studies and technical reporting while maintaining professional accountability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (master’s degree in pavement, highway or geotechnical engineering is a plus).
• Minimum eight years of civil‑engineering design experience, including airfield‑pavement design or evaluation.
