Resident Engineer - Site Supervision

About the role

The Resident Engineer provides day-to-day site supervision on assigned projects, acting as the client's representative on site. The role monitors contractor performance so that works are built in line with design drawings, specifications and quality standards, and ensures progress is safe, on programme and to the required standard.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor contractor works on site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and standards
• Review and approve contractor method statements, material submittals and inspection requests
• Conduct site inspections and witness testing to verify quality and compliance
• Identify and record non-conformances and follow up on corrective actions with the contractor
• Prepare and issue daily, weekly and monthly site progress reports
• Monitor contractor compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements
• Coordinate with design and project management teams to resolve site queries and technical issues
• Support the review of contractor claims and variations relating to site conditions
• Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, photographs and correspondence
• Support the coordination of testing, commissioning and handover activities

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 12-15 years' experience in site supervision or construction engineering, from enabling works to handover
• Abu Dhabi project experience preferred

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and UAE construction codes and standards
• Experience reviewing contractor submittals, method statements and inspection requests
• Good understanding of health, safety and quality management on construction sites
