Autonomy Engineer & Project Lead – Autonomous Systems

About the role

Sunreef Yachts is looking for an experienced Autonomy Engineer who will also act as Project Lead for its next‑generation autonomous yacht platforms. You will define the overall autonomy architecture and guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable autonomous capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead projects covering autonomous navigation, collision avoidance, auto‑docking, route planning and remote operation.
• Define and manage system architecture, ensuring integration of sensors, control, propulsion, communications and onboard electronics.
• Coordinate software, electronics, mechanical and automation teams while supervising technical activities.
• Integrate and calibrate LiDAR, radar, AI cameras, stereo vision, GPS/RTK, IMU, sonar, thermal, ultrasonic and laser sensors.
• Develop sensor‑fusion, computer‑vision, AI perception, SLAM, obstacle detection and path‑planning algorithms.
• Support embedded software integration using Python, C/C++, ROS/ROS2, Linux and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Manage communication networks (CAN Bus, NMEA 2000, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, RS485, MQTT, TCP/UDP).
• Lead testing, simulation, sea‑trial validation and work with suppliers and technology partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation or related field.
• Minimum 5 years leading autonomous vehicle, robotics or intelligent‑mobility projects.
• Proven ability to manage complex multidisciplinary engineering projects.
